VENICE 2 SPAIN
Trying to see all of Italy in one week and trying to see all of Venice in 2 hours (today) is like trying to cram 2 liters of soda into a 12 oz can--filled to more than overflowing.
We started the day by catching an early train from Ferrarra, the coolest town in Italy, with the intent to arrive in Venice with a full day to see the city of canals. Of course, our bad luck with
trains is consistent... there was a bomb scare at one of the stations, so they had to reroute us to another region delaying is by several hours. While we waited we met a cool local couple. The misses was ~50 year old, white gal originally from the British colonies in Zimbabwee; however, she had lived in Los Angeles for 15 yrs and had retired to Italy-she has a daughter living in Thousand Oaks. She and her companion helped us understand the bomb scare and for extra credit they explained that there was a metro strike about to start. Finally, they provided some tour pointers for Venice.
We ended up having time to run up and down a few streets in Venice, take a few pictures with water in the background (just so it looks like we were really there) and eat a tourist-special lasagna meal. We wrapped up the day by proving our travel nimbleness--we caught a boat to the train station, then to the bus, then to the plane. We landed in Spain and were on a bus again to the metro then to our hostel. Talk about a variety of transportation methods... ever seen "trains, planes, and automobiles?" yeah, same thing, but we won't be sleeping in the same bed.
We ended the day by eating some chicken at KFC then hit the sack with our German and Argentine roomies-same room, different sacks.

What a hectic day! It made me tired just reading about your day, how did you survive? You will need a day to regroup.
This world is too small to meet someone who has a daughter living in Thousand Oaks!. Really! That is just incredible.
You just need more time in Europe to see all the things on your list.
I am thankful for the people who are placed in you path to explain things to you so you know what's happening.
I do hope you will enjoy Barcelona. The weather was perfect when we were there. Sweater weather, so the people were still dressed which was nice. You will probably see it all, and all is sometimes more than you want to see.
I hope the hostel is safe, clean, and OK. If not, then find a better place for tomorrow, so you will have fond memories of your trip.
I miss you all the time and know this is a chance of a lifetime trip.
Love, Mom
It is bed time. We have to be at thehospital at 7:15 and will be there until Thurs. I'll try to stay in touch from Scott's computer. I am staying in SLC to be close to IJ.
Of course we are praying for miracles. We have been blessed in the past so I am hopeful.
We did enjoy Barcelona. You won't see it all, but enjoy whatever you do. Get some time to relax. Being too tired ruins anything that might be exciting.
I am glad you ate a terrific meal in Ferrara, because you won't find one in Spain. Find the big market and shop there and pick up some fresh stuff to enjoy.
Have so much fun and I look forward to receiving your blog when you have time.
Love, M
